Welcome to Orio Cemetery
This site documents the graves at Orio Cemetery located on the property of Wabash Presbyterian Church west of Allendale, Illinois (Wabash County). The cemetery has about 900 burials and dates from the 1840's. Through this database you will be able to search the graves by several methods.
Much work has been done on the database since I first put it online last November. If you have been checking in you've seen it begin to fill out. About 80% of the burials now have photos listed. If there is a location listed, click on the ID to bring up the Grave Record. I've allowed space for up to five photos, in case there are portraits or other documents available. The location code is be keyed to a physical map you can reach through the "Location" button.
When will all this be reasonably complete? Hopefully by July 2009. Your suggestions are welcome, and if you find inaccuracies anywhere in the site , please contact us. And please pass this link on to other people researching this area of Wabash county.
Orio Cemetery is managed by the Wabash Presbyterian Cemetery Association who conducts the annual Labor Day weekend chowder (Orio Chowder).
